Yes, absolutely.
Different types of tissue paper mother rolls have very different color retention / fade resistance naturally.
By Base Paper Raw Material
- Virgin wood pulp mother roll
Best color retention. Pure pulp has stable fiber, fewer impurities, dyes well, and slow fading.
- Mixed pulp (virgin + recycled)
Medium color fastness. More impurities make color easier to oxidize and fade faster than pure virgin pulp.
- 100% recycled pulp mother roll
Worst color retention. Short fibers, high ash content & impurities; color fades much faster, easy to turn yellow or dull.
By Dye & Additive Grade
- With a light-fastness agent/color fixing agent, the color lasts months to years.
- Cheap industrial dye without fixing: fades in weeks under light.
By Coloring Method
- Dope-dyed (pulp dyed before making paper)
Color penetrates every fiber, with the best long-term color fastness, not easy to fade or rub off.
- Surface printed/sprayed color
Color only stays on the surface; easy to fade under light, humidity, or friction - poor retention.
By Layer & Density
- High-density, thick mother roll
Tight fiber structure locks dye better, longer color life.
- Light, low-density soft roll
Loose fibers absorb moisture and light more easily, and color fades more quickly.
